Have the exact product ready
Have the brand, the strength, the form (pen or pill) and the quantity from your prescription. A pharmacy can carry one strength of Wegovy and be out of the next, so ask about yours specifically.
Shortage status, strengths and how to find Wegovy at a pharmacy.
To find Wegovy in stock, call pharmacies with the exact product on your prescription (the Wegovy pen or the Wegovy pill, in your strength) and ask whether it's in stock today and when the next delivery is due. Strength-by-strength gaps are the common problem, so ask about your exact one. Check whether a rejection is a stock problem or a coverage problem, and ask your prescriber to send the prescription to the pharmacy that confirms it has your strength.
As of October 14, 2026, the FDA's drug shortage database has no current shortage listing for semaglutide sold as Wegovy. That is national manufacturer supply. A pharmacy can still be out of a particular strength on a given day.
FDA's semaglutide listings name the brand in each package description, so this checks only Wegovy packages. See FDA's listing.

A stock problem and a coverage problem can look the same at the counter, and many plans require prior authorization for these medicines. Ask: "Is the problem that you don't have it, or that the claim was rejected?"
Ask whether your strength is in stock today, whether it is on order, and when the next delivery is due. A pharmacist may also know which strengths they can usually get.
Wegovy injections and the Wegovy pill are separate products with different strengths. Tell the pharmacy exactly which one is on your prescription. A newer product can be harder to find at first, so ask whether the pharmacy carries it before asking for the prescription to be sent.
Check chains, grocery-store pharmacies and independents, and say you need the FDA-approved brand product as prescribed. How to ask a pharmacy if a medication is in stock has a ready-to-read script.
Once a pharmacy confirms it has your strength, ask your prescriber's office to send the prescription there. Please don't split a dose, combine strengths or stretch a pen to bridge a gap. Call your prescriber, who decides any change to your dose or medicine.
Needle phones pharmacies for you, using AI voice agents and human callers, asks for your exact Wegovy strength and form, and reports which pharmacies said they have it. Its database covers 60,000+ US pharmacies, and pay-as-you-go searches cost $1.00 per pharmacy call (credits roll over). Start a search.
NIH RxNorm, the National Library of Medicine's standard drug vocabulary, lists Wegovy in these forms and strengths as of October 14, 2026. A listed strength isn't a promise any pharmacy stocks it, and only your prescriber can change yours.

Single-dose products are shown as total dose and volume (for example, 2.5 mg/0.5 mL). Multi-dose pens are shown by concentration and pen volume, as RxNorm records them; your prescription and pharmacy label give the dose per injection.
Wegovy is Novo Nordisk's brand of semaglutide for weight management. It is sold as injection pens and, since FDA approval in December 2025, as a once-daily pill. RxNorm lists semaglutide only under the Wegovy, Ozempic and Rybelsus brands, so there is no generic to ask for. FDA declared the semaglutide shortage resolved on February 21, 2025, and FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA-approved.

Both contain semaglutide, but they are different products with different strengths. Whether one is right for you, or whether to switch, is a decision for you and your prescriber.
